I’m Mark, a freelance writer, journalist, and editor. I am currently the Arts, Culture, & Community Editor for South Seattle Emerald.

As an editor I offer developmental editing, line editing, and author coaching. I am a trusted resource for both new and established writers.

I typically write about Seattle news, restaurants, arts, culture, and LGBTQIA2S+ issues. My work has appeared in Vice, Mashable, South Seattle Emerald, The Seattle Times, BuzzFeed, The Stranger, and more.

I was the interim guest editor for Eater Seattle in fall 2021, and have been writing social media and promotional copy for Seattle Restaurant Week and Good Food Kitchens since 2022.

If you’re looking for an editor, features writer, journalist, or copywriter, or just want to say Hi, fill out the form on the About Me/Contact page.

Thanks for stopping by.

Mark brings more than a strong command of vocabulary and grammar to his writing. His ability to distill complex topics into approachable, accessible language and his deep sense of empathy serve him well in his craft. Mark is a joy both to edit and read.

Mark is such a pleasure to work with. Not only is he a prolific writer who continues to grow and learn, he is also an invested and compassionate community member. I was continually impressed with his ability to connect with, interview, and represent diverse people from different communities. Mark’s dedication and heart are just wonderful.
